One of the annoying changes in Windows 10 is the SAFE BOOT.
If you think your PC may have a malware infection, boot your PC into Microsoft’s Safe Mode.
In this mode, only the minimum required programs and services are loaded. If any malware is set to load automatically when Windows starts, entering in this mode may prevent it from doing so. This is important because it allows the files to be removed easier since they’re not actually running or active.
Sadly, Microsoft has turned the process of booting into safe mode from a relatively easy process in Windows 7 and Windows 8 (by just tapping the F8 key when turning the computer on) to one that is decidedly more complicated in Windows 10.
This is how to boot Windows 10 into SAFE MODE:
1. first click the Start button in Windows 10 and select the Power button as if you were going to reboot, but don’t click anything.
2. Next hold down the Shift key and click Restart. When the full-screen menu appears, select Troubleshooting, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings.
3. On the next window click the Restart button and wait for the next screen to appear (just stick with us here, we know this is long).
Next you will see a menu with numbered startup options; select number 4,
which is Safe Mode.
Note that if you want to connect to any online scanners you’ll need to select option 5, which is Safe Mode with Networking.
Here is a couple of links that will take you to more detail descriptions of this procedure.
A computer virus is a small software program or code that replicates itself and spreads from one computer to another. It drastically interferes with the operation and function of the computer.
Such codes are usually attached to programs like excel, word, outlook, power point, and word perfect.
When these programs are run the virus attached to it is triggered to run on causing a wide range of problems including file corruption,
data deletion, and email spamming.
Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool is automatically downloaded with Windows frequent updates and can come in quite handy in some cases - see video.
If you are using Windows 7 and no longer receive updates, you have to download it from another source:

Malwarebytes should be downloaded from a reputable software publisher, such as FileHippo.com
or directly from Malwarebytes.com
